Avalon Skatepark upgrade

We welcome you to join the public consultation on Hutt City Council’s plans to upgrade the skating facilities at Avalon Park.

Upgrades and extensions to the skatepark have been part of our long-term plans for the facility, under the Reserves Management Plan for Avalon Park. There is now an opportunity to bring this forward and deliver it for our community sooner, coinciding with other exciting developments in our city.

As part of the Te Wai Takamori o Te Awa Kairangi (RiverLink) project the existing Melling Skatepark at Block Road needs to move so that flood protection work and a new Melling Interchange can get underway. This work is beginning next year, and so a replacement skatepark is needed.

We value your feedback on this proposal and invite you to make a comment below.

We'd also like to hear any additional ideas you have for this area which might complement a new stakepark.

This consultation will close at 5pm November 28, 2023.
