Background

Te Awa Kairangi ki Tai Lower Hutt is facing significant challenges that will continue to disrupt our communities and the economy if we don’t commit to a coordinated, long-term response.

The purpose of the City Strategy is a document that will look to address these challanges by having a 30-year outlook. We want this document to be created alongside the community, reflecting the voices and aspirations of our people, to set goals and identify plans that we can work on together to guide our city into the future.

We acknowledge that these challenges can’t be solved by Council alone, therefore this is not a council strategy but a City Strategy. We’re setting up a City Leadership Group (CLG) which will be a collective of senior representatives from key sectors and organisations in Lower Hutt who will jointly own and endorse the City Strategy.
