Thank you for your feedback to help us finalise the planned locations for these speed treatments. Our Traffic Subcommittee have approved these works and installation is planned to take place mid-September 2023. Letters will be sent to residents ahead of work commencing, advising of expected delays and detail of works.

We are committed to making the streets around Te Awa Kairangi ki Tai Lower Hutt safe for everyone. Members of the community have raised concerns with Council regarding excessive speed and anti-social driving behaviours in the area. As a result council conducted a safety audit which has confirmed that traffic calming measures are required, the area under review is Seddon Street from Naenae Road to Waddington Drive.

As a result of extensive transport planning and engineering work, it was decided that raised safety platforms will be installed as the best option to meet the needs of the community. One of these platforms will also serve as a pedestrain crossing, replacing the currently crossing at the corner of Wheatley and Seddon Streets.

This plan will help reduce speeds, create a safer environment for walking and biking, ultimately making the streets safer for all.

We need your help to ensure we have the locations of the speed treatments in the right places to meet the needs of the community and residents of Seddon Street. Below you will find a map of the locations and sample images of the planned treatments. You will be able to leave a comment with your feedback on the locations.

Consultation will close at 5pm, Sunday 20 November 2022.
