Consultation has now closed for this project.

Thank you to all those who contributed to this engagement, the feedback received from the community was very helpful.

As a result we have revised the locations of two of the speed cushion installations - outside 30 Wellington Road and 85 Wellington Road. The new locations are outside 25 & 26 Wellington Road and outside 98 & 106 Wellington Road.

Feedback was sought from closely affected residents to confirm the treatment locations.

Installation will take place early 2023.

We are committed to making the streets around Te Awa Kairangi ki Tai Lower Hutt safe for everyone. After members of the community raised concerns about speeding and anti-social driving behavior, and the fact that this area has had lots of residential development, council looked onto options to improve safety.

Looking at speed and historical crash data council determined that traffic calming measures were needed. As a result of extensive transport planning and engineering work, it was decided that speed cushions will be installed as the best option to meet the needs of the community.

This plan will help reduce speeds, reduce heavy vehicle volume and encourage other travel options like cycling and walking, ultimately making the streets safer for everyone.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the dicussion on the locations of the speed cushions. More information on the project will be available soon, once feedback has been reviewed.
