Dangerous, Affected & Insanitary Buildings Policy 2021
Consultation has concluded
The Building Act 2004 requires councils to manage dangerous or insanitary buildings in an effective and timely manner to remove the danger and address the issues and building condition. Hutt City Council has prepared a draft Dangerous, Affected, and Insanitary Building Policy to replace the 2016 policy.
This policy sets out how Hutt City Council will deal with dangerous, affected, or insanitary buildings. The policy aims to ensure that people in and around buildings in Te Awa Kairangi ki Tai Lower Hutt are safe. The policy sets out:
- the approach that Hutt City Council takes in performing its functions under the Act;
- its priorities in performing those functions; and
- how the policy applies to heritage buildings.
