Moerā Reserve - Design Your Park
Consultation has concluded
As part of the Moerā Neighbourhood Hub redevelopment, we’re also refreshing the Moerā Reserve that expands out of the north end of the new hub.
We’ve engaged Designgroup Stapleton Elliott to create the design and together we’re keen to collaborate with the community to hear ideas on what you want to see in the space.
The refresh will be completed in a phased approach with the first phase being developed concurrently with the new hub by Niche Commercial Ltd. Phase one includes the refurbishing the public toilets, paving and planting in the immediate outdoor area of the hub.
Phase two will follow in 2025 and includes the wider reserve area from the hub to behind the Community Hall.
We're looking for community input and ideas on:
The playground and other features such as seating
Plantings throughout the space
Pedestrian and vehicle access, including traffic flow in and out
The exterior of the public toilets
How we integrate the other buildings into the reserve (Community Hall and Community House)
How we could support the Community Garden
As part of this work we want to:
Stay within budget, we have $800k for both phases including fixing site stormwater drainage
Improve the accessibility of the space and the equipment where possible
Improve the feeling of safety within the space for all users
Ensure the community feels represented in the refreshed space
What we’ve heard so far
Key themes we’ve heard from previous engagement on the Moerā Community Hub and the playground:
the importance of accessibility
the indoor-outdoor flow from hub to reserve
safer parking of vehicles as well as pram and mobility scooter parking
installation of dog bags and bins for responsible pet owners
sunshades
space for a coffee cart
boundary fences for the safety of tamariki
a BBQ area similar to Avalon Park.
